1. Hot Toddy

Hot Toddy

Ingredients

  • Bourbon or rye whiskey or Irish whiskey or scotch – 60ml
  • Fresh Lemon Juice-7.5ml
  • Demerara sugar or brown sugar-2tbsp,
  • 1 Lemon twist,
  • 1 cloves,
  • Boiling water to fill a mug.

Garnish: Lemon twist
Glass: Mason jar.
Method: Stir

How to prepare?
Fill a mug with boiling water and let stand for a minute or two to warm. Meanwhile, stick the cloves into the lemon twist and set aside. Empty the mug and fill about halfway with fresh boiling water. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Add the prepared lemon twist and stir. Add the lemon juice and whiskey, and stir again.

  • 1 bag berry herbal tea
  • 1½ oz. white rum
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 lemon twist

Garnish: Lemon twist
Glass: Mason jar / Tom Collins
Method: Stir

How to prepare?
Steep tea bag in a mug with 6 oz. hot water, 2–3 minutes; discard tea bag and stir in rum, lemon juice, and honey. Garnish with lemon twist.

Cranberry Juice (Hot)-150ml
Lemon Juice-15ml
Cinnamon Syrup-10ml

Add all ingredients into a rocks glass and mix.

How to prepare?
Fill copper mug with ice. Pour 60ml vodka and 15ml lime juice over ice in each mug. Pour ginger beer until the mug is almost full. Stir and garnish with lime

How to prepare?
Combine apple cider, rum, ginger beer and juice of half of the lime in a cocktail shaker or tall glass and stir until combined. Cut the other half of the lime into wedges and serve in a tall glass over ice.)

Blood Orange Juice-60ml
Tequila-45ml
1 wedge of lime
Ginger Beer-90ml

Garnish: Orange wheel
Glass: Rock or Moscow mule mug
Method: Shake and strain

How to prepare?
Place .25 cup blood orange juice into a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine blood orange zest and sugar. Dip the rim of a glass into juice first and then into the sugar mixture to coat the rim evenly. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 cup of ice with 2 ounces blood orange juice, 1.5 ounces tequila, and the juice from a lime wedge. Shake vigorously. Pour into the prepared glass and top off with desired amount of ginger beer.)

Light Rum-60ml
Orange Juice-60ml
Fresh Lime Juice-15ml
Ginger Beer-fill

Garnish: Watermelon wedge

Method: Blend and strain

How to prepare?
Blend watermelon chunks until smooth. Strain the puree into a pitcher and discard solids. Stir in rum, orange juice and lime juice. Add ginger beer and stir thoroughly. Serve over ice with watermelon wedges.

Gin-60ml
Cinnamon simple syrup-30ml
Lemon juice-15ml
Angostura bitters-1 dash

Garnish: Cinnamon stick
Glass: Mason jar.

How to prepare?
Make the syrup: Combine 2 cups water, sugar, and 4 cinnamon sticks in a 2-qt. saucepan; simmer for 10 minutes until sugar has dissolved. Discard cinnamon sticks and set syrup aside. Makes about 1½ cups; syrup will keep, refrigerated, for up to two weeks. Make the cocktail: Heat gin, syrup, lemon juice, and 2 oz. water in a 2-qt. saucepan. Remove from heat and add bitters. Serve in a mason jar with a cinnamon stick as garnish.)

Pear Vodka-45ml
Ginger Beer-120ml
1 Cinnamon stick

How to prepare?
Microwave – Pour the vodka and ginger beer into an Irish coffee glass or mug. Microwave for 10 to 20 seconds. Add a cinnamon stick and enjoy. Stove – In a small saucepan, heat the ginger beer gently for a few minutes. It should reach a very low simmer, but not a boil. Pour the vodka into a warmed Irish coffee glass or mug, then top with the warm ginger beer. Drop a cinnamon stick into the glass.

Hot brewed coffee-fill
Whipped cream

Garnish: Whipped cream
Glass: Irish Coffee mug

How to prepare?
Filling an Irish Coffee mug with hot water, let sit for 2 minutes, then discard the water. Pour hot coffee into warmed glass until it is about 3/4 full. Add the brown sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Add Irish whiskey. Top with a collar of the whipped heavy cream by pouring gently over back of spoon. Serve hot.

11. Blue Blazer

Ingredients
Cask strength of Scotch whiskey like Dewar or Aberlour – 120 ml
Demerara or raw sugar – 2 tsp
Boiling water (plus more boiling water to heat mugs) – 90ml

Garnish: Lemon peel
Glass: Glass mug or teacup

How to prepare?
Preheat 2 glass mugs with boiling water and discard water. Clear all flammable materials from mixing area. Lay down a damp towel or 2 to soak up potential spills. Keep a fire extinguisher on hand. Pour sugar, scotch and boiling water into one of the mugs, and ignite with a match. Very carefully, pour flaming liquid back and forth from mug to mug (about 5 times). Pour drink evenly into mugs and extinguish flame. Garnish with lemon peels.

Story
The only drink we know of that requires keeping a fire extinguisher close by, the Blue Blazer was cooked up by cocktail pioneer Jerry Thomas in a gambling saloon in Gold Rush–era San Francisco. In his 1862 “Bar-tenders Guide,” he describes it as a “blazing stream of liquid fire,” but it’s basically a Hot Toddy made with high-proof scotch and a whole lot of flair.

How to prepare?
Fill toddy glass with boiling water and let stand for a minute or two to warm. After glass is warmed throw the water and add the dark rum and top off with hot water. Add cinnamon stick or powder. Stir and serve..)

13. Dewar’s Hot Toddy

Ingredients
1 part Dewar’s 12 Blended Scotch Whisky
3 parts hot water
1 tea bag
Honey and lemon juice, to taste

How to prepare?
Coat the bottom of a mug or an Irish coffee glass with honey. Add Dewar’s and the lemon juice. On the side, heat water in a tea kettle and add the tea bag to make hot tea. Pour the hot tea into the glass and stir.

14. Orchard Toddy

1 bottle Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple
4.5 oz. Scotch or Irish Whiskey
2.25 oz. lemon juice
3 oz. honey ginger syrup**
3 oz. water

How to prepare?
Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and set at low heat. Allow to heat up and then serve and garnish with a lemon wheel studded with cloves. If using a stovetop, add all ingredients to a small saucepan and simmer over low heat. Be careful not to allow the mixture to get too hot because the alcohol will boil off.

15. St. Bruno’s Cure

Ingredients
30 ml (1 ounce) – Gin
30 ml – yellow Chartreuse liqueur
2 dashes Angostura bitters
120 ml (4 ounces) – apple cider
30 ml – fresh lemon juice
15 ml – honey
6 black peppercorns
1 apple slice

Garnish: Apple slice

Glass: Mug or Mason Jar

How to prepare?
Combine gin, Chartreuse, and bitters in a warm mug. Bring apple cider, lemon juice, honey, and peppercorns to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve honey. Strain mixture into mug. Garnish with apple slice.

16. Winter Mojito

60 ml – House-spiced rum
22 ml – Fresh lime juice
15 ml – Demerara syrup
1 barspoon – Licor 43 liqueur
30 ml – Soda water
1 Mint sprig

Garnish: Mint sprig
Glass: Tom Collins
Method:
Shake and strain
Flavor:
Sweet

How to prepare?
Add the rum, lime juice and syrup to a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled. Drop the mint sprig in the bottom of a Collins glass, add fresh ice, and strain the drink on top. Garnish with a mint sprig, and slowly pour the liqueur onto the leaves and the top of the drink.

To make house-spiced rum: Add 1 stick of cinnamon, 5 ground cloves and 3 ground star anise to one 750mL bottle of aged rum. Let steep for at least 12 hours or until desired flavor is achieved, then strain out solids.

 

17. Bourbon Cough Syrup

60 ml – Bourbon whiskey
60 ml – Lemon juice
60 to120 ml – Water (optional)
1 tablespoon honey

Garnish: Lemon twist
Glass: Tumbler or Mug
Method:
Build up
Flavor: Sweet

How to prepare?
Mix the bourbon, lemon juice, and water (if using) in a tumbler or mug and heat in the microwave for about 45 seconds. (You can also do this on the stovetop in a little saucepan.) Take out and add the honey. Whisk to combine, then microwave for another 45 seconds.

18. Rum Cider

Bacardi Carta Oro gold rum – 60ml
Apple cider – 45ml
Chamomile tea – 22 ml
Demerara syrup – 22 ml
Fresh lemon juice – 15 ml

Garnish: Lemon wheel and Grated nutmeg
Glass: Coffee mug
Method: Build up

How to prepare?
Add all the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, and serve in a coffee mug. Garnish with a lemon wheel and freshly grated nutmeg.

 

19. Rum Grog

30 ml Lime Juice
20 ml Simple Syrup
Boiling Water
1 Wedge Lime

Garnish: Lime
Glass: Highball
Method: Build up

How to prepare?
Add light rum, lime juice and simple syrup into a highball glass. Top up with boiling water. Garnish with lime.

10ml Boiling Water
10ml Honey
45ml Absolut Vodka
40ml Apple Juice, Fresh Pressed
10ml Lemon Juice
Soda Water
Lemon

Garnish: Lemon
Glass: Highball
Method: Build up

How to prepare?
Stir boiling water and honey in a mixing glass. Add Absolut Vodka, apple juice, fresh pressed and lemon juice. Pour into a highball glass filled with ice cubes. Top up with soda water. Garnish with lemon.
